This course enables students to research and observe the correlation between children’s environments and behaviors. The course analyzes the importance of play, social interactions, and family expectations on children’s development.

This course provides administrative training in the field of Early Childhood Education. This course addresses early childhood education program designs, curricula, ethics, as well as criteria and techniques employed in the start-up and organization of early childhood education programs. Focus is placed on the implementation of national, state, and local mandates in a high quality early childhood education program, including skills necessary to ensure the safety of all program participants and perform effectively as director. Students will complete ten hours of observation in this course.

The two-year Early Childhood Education diploma program combines theory and coursework work with real experiences in the field. Students will learn the importance of play in children's learning, the family involvement, and curriculum design. Graduates will be qualified to work in a variety of jobs including child care centres, early learning and family centres.Early Childhood prepares students to teach birth through grade 3, while Elementary prepares students to teach Kindergarten through grade 6.

All faculty in this program have experience teaching in the P-6 school environment, giving students unique access to their experience and expertise.

You’ll gain 300+ hours of hands-on teaching experience before your final internship. Practical field experience is included with each methods course (such as methods of teaching math, etc.). Students go to area schools with their professors and work with experienced teachers and then have a chance to practice what they are learning.
