INTERNATIONAL COLLEGE OF TECHNICAL EDUCATION Pakistan No.1 IT Training, Technical, Management and Safety Officer Institute, For More Information Visit Our Website Certification acceptable in Government job and Worldwide UK USA KSA UAE Canada Dubai Muscat Oman Bahrain Kuwait Qatar Saudia Japan China, Maria Montessori was a respected expert on child development. Her ideas and practices emphasized that every child goes through a unique development process and is a unique individual that can learn in line with his or her capacity. It was Montessori's belief that knowledge requires more than simple memorization of educational material. Montessori insisted that knowledge should be made specific enough so that any child of any age can understand. She developed a method and series of materials that can be integrated into the classroom setting.Montessori curriculum is different from traditional classroom curriculum that focuses on children learning the same thing, at the same time, in the same way. Montessori curriculum emphasizes learning as a process that cannot be determined by a child's age. Instead, learning is a process that is determined by the rate and speed at which a child can acquire one skill before moving on to another skill. The Montessori environment is a spacious, open, tidy, pleasing in appearance, simple and real place, where each element exists for a reason in order to help in the development of the child. The environment is proportional to children's height and size, and it has low shelves and tables and chairs of different sizes where children can sit individually or in groups. The classroom is divided into theme areas where related materials and bibliography are exposed on the shelves, allowing great freedom of movement. Children can work in groups or individually, respecting their own style and rythm. Each child uses the material he chose by taking it from the shelf and putting it back in its place so others can use it.The environment promotes the childs independence in the exploring and learning process. Freedom and self-discipline make possible that each child finds activities that respond to their evolutionary needs.Montessori classrooms gather children in 3 different ages: younger than 3 years old, from 3 to 6 years old, from 6 to 9 years old and from 9 to 13 years old. These "mixed age classrooms" favour spontaneous cooperation, desire to learn, mutual respect and the acquisition of deep knowledge in the process of teaching others. These materials allow children to investigate and explore in a personal and independent way. They make repetition possible, and this promotes concentration. They have the quality of "isolating the difficulties", which means each one of these materials introduces a unique variable, only one new concept, isolating it and leaving the other concepts without modification. These materials have a "control of error": the material itself will show the child if he/she used it correctly. This way, children know that errors are part of the learning process; they teach children to establish a positive attitude towards them, making children responsible for their own learning and helping them to develop self-confidence.

The purpose of the Foundation Certificate course is:

1. To aid the ‘discovery of the child’ and to understand the work of the first-plane child.

2. To understand the work of the Montessori adult in order to develop habits of observation and self-reflection and to prepare for the art of Montessori teaching; this includes developing controlled, precise movements, appropriate ways of speaking and listening, and an attitude of respect towards the child as well as embracing the collaborative role of the adult in the child's self-construction.

3. To understand key principles related to the development of movement; the refinement of the senses; the development of intelligence; the development of language; the development of the will; the individual work cycle; integration of the personality and normalisation; obedience; independence; freedom and discipline; and social cohesion.

4. To introduce the essential principles of Montessori pedagogy.

5. To support an understanding of the foundation for optimal 6–12 development created through experience in the 3–6 classroom and its relevance for the 6–12 teacher, particularly when working with a Second Plane child who lacks some aspect of this foundation
