You want to be a refrigeration and air conditioning mechanic. You want to learn how to install, alter, repair and maintain refrigeration and air conditioning systems in all types of applications. You are mechanically inclined and understand the basic functioning of cooling and heating systems.

But you want to learn more, like how to repair heating equipment, troubleshoot gas-fired equipment and calibrate gas-related controls. You also want to understand all parts of a system, including how to lubricate moving parts and monitor the refrigerant charge.

The refrigeration trainer belong to educational training equipment, it is used as didactic equipment training equipment for HVAC related major use, the vocational training equipment introduces students to the basic knowledge of air-conditioning and refrigeration using water-cooled condenser systems. Students will learn practical knowledge of the operation of vapor compression refrigeration cycles used in air conditioning and refrigeration systems.

Refrigeration and air conditioning mechanics (RACM) install, maintain, repair and overhaul residential central air conditioning systems, commercial and industrial refrigeration and air conditioning systems and combined heating, ventilation and cooling systems. In addition to installation and repair, main duties may include blueprint reading and interpretation, troubleshooting, leak testing, and preparing estimates for clients.

The Refrigeration and Air Conditioning Mechanic (Pre-Employment) program is an apprenticeship trades program. Courses completed at Academy Canada meet the requirements to become a first-year apprentice. Once this training is completed and the graduate obtains their first position in the trade, s/he must register as an Apprentice with the Department of Advanced Education, Skills and Labour. Government will then cover the costs associated with regular advanced training as the apprentice gains experience and works towards completing their Journeyperson exam. Passing this examination will result in receiving Red Seal Certification.
